Gilbert was honored this night – June 8, 2010 – by Immigration Equality for her work for same-sex binational couples.

I signed it with the Japanese phrase that means thanks that never ends…Mike is a longtime friend and longtime ally for LGBT issues. Now he has learned about LGBT binational couples’ struggles, as we have!

She started visiting and asked Karin where she was from, etc., and then when she heard our story she said “What a bunch of bullsh*t! She could not believe our immigration and marriage situation. We always take the chance for the teachable moment. She got our card and our story and we hope she shares the information.
